Salomon is releasing a brand new line of all-mountain skis named the XDR series. All skis feature the latest technologies developed by the brand such as the new titanal insert bringing added stiffness and stability. The XDR 78 ST is one of the narrowest skis in the line which makes one of the easiest to manage. Unlike the other models, the ski has no carbon but basalt instead which enhances comfort and feel on the snow.
What can the Salomon XDR 78 ST all-mountain ski do?
Salomon made this ski to allow skiers make the most out of the resort regardless of the conditions. Whether the trails are perfectly groomed, icy or slushy when spring comes, the XDR 78 ST remains agile and stable. Its short turning radius keeps the ski lively and responsive and provides a strong edge hold. It is a great all-rounder in the sense that you can very well hop off piste and have fun on moguls and chopped up snow. Bear in mind that you are not on a powder ski and the 78mm waist may be a touch too narrow to venture through deep snow. But if you spend most of your time on trails, then it’s an excellent pick.
Who is the Salomon XDR 78 ST all-mountain ski designed for?
We recommend this ski to the intermediate skier, up to advanced, who looks for an easy-going all-rounder that is technically accessible. Expert skiers will probably want more power and should have a look at skis from the upper end
